A LORD has called for tougher laws to ensure food is labelled properly.

Manchester peer Lord Morris said in the House of Lords that manufacturers are not informing consumers of the contents of their products, which is leading to a nation of obese children.

Lord Morris said most children went to school eating their breakfast - a chocolate bar and a can of pop.

He spoke in the House of Lords in advance of a summit meeting where the problems of obesity, poor diet and a lack of exercise would be discussed.
