DARCY Lever and Spring View produced a combined total of over 500 runs when they finally decided their Cross Cup first round tie with some absorbing cricket.
Holders Spring View came out on top by six wickets, the major contribution coming from their professional Arindam Sarkar, who dominated the match with a sparkling unbeaten century.
He hit 129 not out as View chased the home side's impressive 259-8, and with Martin James adding a valuable 59, a total of 262-4 with an over and five balls remaining, enabled them to clinch a second round tie at Walshaw.
Earlier a middle order runs spree helped Darcy to their high total.
Nick Fawcett held firm opening the innings while Spring View made inroads into the rest of the early order, but when he had gone for 38 and Ashley Perry for 27, Dave Morris and John Norris came together to punish the View bowlers with half centuries.
Norris was eventually dimissed for 62 and Morris for 54 but Paul Smethurst kept the runs flowing with an unbeaten 49.
That looked good enough for Darcy but with Sarkar in the mood for runs, their bowlers were never able to produce a telling breakthrough.
