EVENING horse racing just got earlier.
Haydock Park Racecourse stages the first of six evening meetings this Saturday.
For years, the racecourse's first evening fixture of the Flat racing season has been in June.
Saturday's is a new fixture at Haydock, the only one for 2004, replacing a meeting previously held on the last Saturday of March.
Adam Waterworth, the racecourse's managing director, said: "Evening racing has always been popular at Haydock Park in the late spring and throughout the summer.
"This Saturday is a new fixture and it may take time for our racegoers to become familiar with it, but it gives them a chance to get all those weekend household chores out of the way before a relaxing evening's racing."
Up and coming in the months ahead are three Lambrini Ladies' Nights on Friday 4 June, Saturday 17 July and Friday 6 August.
Tony Hadley - former Spandau Ballet - will be performing after racing on Friday 2 July, while the
evening season wraps up on Thursday 12 August.
Racegoers who took advantage of an admission offer on Red Square Vodka Gold
Cup day at the end of February are reminded that the additional cut-price
admission offer relates to this Saturday.
