READING your article Bolton Evening News, April 13, about Social Services' plans to close the games room at the Jubilee Centre to make way for offices.
Bolton Senior Gateway and Bolton Senior PHAB are two very popular clubs that use the centre's games room in the evenings.
Both clubs give valuable respite for carers while providing social activities for people with learning and physical disabilities, the games room being a hub of activity where members enjoy snooker, pool, table tennis, table bowls and dominoes.
Bolton Senior Gateway have almost 200 members, many who enjoy taking part in competitions, playing for trophies. We say to Social Services, consult those concerned and you will find that most people don't want education all the time, those who do can attend the Halliwell Learning Centre not 200 yards away.
What better way to promote well being than good, old-fashioned FUN! People with disabilities need to enjoy themselves, like everyone else.
