HAVING no links with the place at all, I admit to rather reluctantly accompanying a friend to an evening of music held recently at Harper Green School in Farnworth.
Listening to aspiring musicians is one thing when you're a proud parent, but as a mere onlooker with no vested interest, I thought it would be a long two hours or so.
Not so.
The music department, working with the pupils and assisted by Tubalate, a tuba quartet, provided a thoroughly entertaining evening of music and song.
It was wonderful to see young people so enthused, and to enjoy the talent which will doubtless develop further as their specialist status arts college funding kicks in and provides essential resources.
Everyone who contributed made a fantastic effort and deserves congratulating -- thanks to all involved for an excellent and varied musical event.
