BSF Over-35s League: DOBBIES A powered into the final of the Sam Ashworth Trophy by crushing their own B team 5-0.

In a one-sided match which highlighted the gulf between Divisions One and Two, the A team were never in danger and cruised into a 2-0 lead by half-time.

A brace off goals from Steve Mullen and a hat-trick from Brian Howarth, including a 20-yard screamer, completed the rout and secured their place in next month's final.

Third-placed Elton Vale closed in on the Division One leaders by thrashing Hare Athletic 7-0 at home.

A Thompson hat-trick and two from Phil Wheelhouse ensured that Elton Vale will push Dobbies A all the way to the line in the title race.

In Division Two, the Fox and Stork moved five points clear at the top after beating an under-strength Newmarket.

A solid display saw the Fox run out comfortable 4-0 winners as the Newmarket's last lingering hopes of glory were extinguished.

It is still very tight at the top of Division Three after leaders Dobbies C disposed of bottom team DF Lostock 6-2, with Mark Evans bagging a couple.

Second placed Lord Raglan thrashed the Quadrant 9-0.

Tony Whitley grabbed four, Andy Brown three and John McGinlay popped up for his now customary penalty.

They remain just a point behind with a game in hand and the title race looks as though it will go all the way to the last week.

The Bottom Bulls Head consolidated third place with a good 3-0 win at the Founders Arms, with goals from S Uran, R Johnston and K Hindley.

Although only four points off the top, the games have run out for the Bottom Bulls Head and they will be left wondering what could have been but for their poor run of form after Christmas.
