Pioneer Sunday League: ASTLEY Miners are the new Premier Division champions after a 5-1 win at Royal Hotel.

Fashou and Parkinson scored two each before Powell added another to ensure top spot.

There was less joy for the leaders of Division One, however, as Farnworth Social Circle -- despite a goal from Moore --were beaten 4-1 at home by Schooner.

Masons Arms moved level with Farnworth thanks to a 3-0 victory over Great Lever.

Sharples enjoyed a 4-2 win against North Bolton with goals from Rands, Sharp and two from Hibbert. Jones and Walsh replied for North Bolton.

Railway almost lost a 4-0 lead in an extraordinary match at Queen Anne, who pulled three back but could not find an equaliser.

Vasaya and Beattie scored two each and appeared to haved put Railway in command before the home side's recovery.

Hulton Lane B had an equally exciting afternoon as they beat Horwich St Mary's 5-4.

Torkington, Parkinson, Gregory, Moss and Winnard were on target for Lane, with Roberts and Owen adding to a Peszell double for Horwich.

White Horse and Spread Eagle drew 2-2 in the League Cup. McTeigue and Cook scored for White Horse, but they were denied victory as Skelton and Gallgher hit the net for the Eagle.

In the other cup tie, King William defeated Prince Rupert 4-1.
