TUTORS have just one week left to enter their students into the first Basic Skills Learner Awards to be held in Greater Manchester in May.
The deadline for the 2004 Awards, dedicated to students who have overcome obstacles in literacy, numeracy and language, has been extended to 26 March 2004.
The nine new awards run by the Learning and Skills Council Greater Manchester (LSCGM) -- the lead organisation responsible for post-16 skills development in the area -- will recognise the difference people are making to their lives through learning and the effort and commitment that is needed to overcome the barriers to learning a new skill.
The awards are open to any learner aged 16 or above who is currently on a basic skills programme funded by the LSCGM.
For an entry form, log on to www.lanc.ac.uk/wbsnet or call 01524 593 499.
