MORE than 450 people flocked to see top class musical performances from the cream of Bolton's young musicians on Monday night.

Choirs, musical ensembles, and even a brass band were amongst the wide variety of acts that performed at a show-stopping musical extravaganza held at Bolton's Albert Halls.

Liz Forrest, Press Officer for Bolton music Service, said: "It was another excellent evening."

Bolton Intermediate Brass Band set the scene with their opening performance. The band was made up of 40 players aged between 10 and 14.

The Halls were filled with the sound of 50 pupils from St Ethelbert's RC Primary School singing their hearts out and the Deane Junior Strings Ensemble also delighted the audience with their performance.

Thornleigh Sixth Former Claire Bennett -- who is hoping to study music at the Royal Academy -- was the guest soloist on the night.

Turton and Little Lever Choir also excelled. The Bolton Junior Youth Orchestra played the first movement from Brahms Symphony Number One and the Intermediate Percussion Ensemble also wowed the crowds.

Other performances included Mancini Magic from Bolton Youth Concert.

The musical extravaganza is set to continue on Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday at the Albert Halls.

On Tuesday there will be performances from Bolton Urban Music Project, the choir of St Osmund and Andrew's RC Primary School, Bolton Beginner's Brass Band and Bolton Youth Jazz Orchestra.
