PROSTITUTE Jane Davies has told of a policeman's secret sex shame that cost him his career.

Speaking exclusively to the Bolton Evening News, 27-year-old Miss Davies revealed how she was picked up by uniformed traffic cop Gary Hart in his police car and driven back to a Bolton police station for sex.

Hart, of Sandalwood, Westhoughton, pleaded guilty to a charge of kerb crawling when he appeared before Oldham magistrates court on Monday.

The 34-year-old married father of two was fined £100 with £2,546 prosecution costs and banned from driving for one month.

Hart, who had served as a police officer for seven years, picked up Miss Davies in Bolton's red light district after midnight in July last year and took her back to Castle Street station.

Miss Davies told how Hart dropped her off at the front of the building while he drove his police car round the back to park, before letting himself into the police station via a back door.

Miss Davies, who did not give evidence in court after Hart changed his plea to guilty at the last minute, said: "I could see him coming to the front door through the glass. He was paranoid. He wasn't sure if anyone was there," she said.

"He went 'Sssh' at first. Then he said 'it's all right there's nobody in'."

She revealed how he led her through corridors on the ground floor to a windowless storeroom.

"He started undoing his trousers but I said 'no, I get paid first'. He said 'I have got my wallet in my car. I'll give it you in a minute when we are finished'.

"I was going to walk out but he grabbed my arm. He said 'trust me, I'm a copper'.

"I decided to trust him. I thought he was not going to risk me knowing this building and rip me off."

She performed a sex act on him. It was DNA evidence which proved Miss Davies' story in court.

"I feel disgusted at what I did, but at the time it is what I wanted to do."

Afterwards, Hart offered to give Miss Davies a lift home, but when she headed towards the station's back door he stopped her, saying he didn't want her to be spotted by security cameras and ushered her out the front door.

But after waiting 15 minutes, Miss Davies, who lives in Farnworth, realised he had gone without paying her.

"It was raining and I was freezing. He had gone and that was it," she said.

"I felt really ripped off but I forgot about it."

She denied she had complained about Hart out of revenge and says the subject only came up in conversation with another police officer she knew, a month later.

At the time, Miss Davies did not know Hart's name but later picked him out at an identity parade. "I didn't have a clue about his wife and kids. He didn't give anything away." she said.

Once, when she had asked his name, he had replied: "PC Never You Mind."

The court had heard how Miss Davies had been approached by Hart on two other occasions between April and July last year, once in Weston Street when they discussed sex but he decided against it and another time in Harper Green Road, Farnworth, when he had offered her a lift.

On each occasion he had been in uniform, on duty in a marked police car.

Minutes beforeMonday's court hearing, he resigned from the police force.

He has little sympathy from Miss Davies, a recovering heroin addict.

She said: "How many people has he arrested for kerb crawling and yet he's done it himself."

But, she added, she did feel sorry for Hart's wife of five years and children, aged three and 10 months.

Hart, who now plans to set up a haulage business and attempt to rebuild his life, was also criticised by Judge Bridget Knight.

She said: "I can't think of anything more designed to bring shame on your uniform and your police force," she told him.

"You took advantage of and abused your position as a police officer."

Miss Davies has now vowed to start a new life away from the heroin addiction which drove her into prostitution three years ago.
