DRIVERS are being hit with massive repair bills after putting the wrong fuel in their car, according to the AA.

The organisation says around 120,000 UK drivers are mistakenly putting petrol into diesel-engined cars, and the problem is getting worse. The average repair bill for misfuelling is around £150 - which equates to a whopping national repair bill of £18 million each year. The AA Motoring Trust and petrol retailers are launching an information campaign, including better labelling of petrol pump nozzles, to lessen the problem.

Cards carrying the warning will also be distributed with petrol receipts.
