YOURI Djorkaeff is being offered the Dennis Bergkamp treatment as an incentive to see out his glittering career at the Reebok.

Impressed by the way Arsene Wenger has rotated his squad to extend the Dutch master's influence on Arsenal's bid for the Premiership title, Sam Allardyce says he is prepared to use the Frenchman sparingly, if it means Wanderers having the benefit of his talent and experience for one more year.

Djorkaeff, who will be 36 next Tuesday, is still going strong and showing no signs of slowing up, two years after joining Wanderers on what was initially intended as a short-term arrangement.

And Allardyce believes he could be a key figure again next season, if he chooses to stay on.

"Sometimes it might come down to him not doing it quite as often as he was before," the manager acknowledged, "but, if that was the case, we would use him sparingly, like Bergkamp, because of the physical demands.

"But he could still make a massive contribution."

Wanderers want Djorkaeff to sign a one-year contract to replace his current deal, which expires at the end of this season, but could face competition from the oil-rich state of Qatar, who can offer the World Cup winner one last big payday.

Djorkaeff is one of 10 members of Wanderers' senior squad, whose deals expire this summer.

Jay-Jay Okocha, Per Frandsen, Bruno N'Gotty, Emerson Thome, Steve Howey, Jermaine Johnson, Kevin Poole, Derek Niven and Ibrahim Ba will all be out of contract; Kevin Davies has a one-year option that is up for negotiation, and Allardyce will have to decide whether to convert Donovan Ricketts' loan from Jamaican club Village United into a permanent transfer.
