BEING told to clear your desk is every company director's worst nightmare.

But not for three Bolton bosses who have just been kicked out of their offices.

The trio at Bolton's MDA office letting headquarters in Manchester Road -- finance director Stuart Holmes, development and legal director Andy Bury and acquisitions director Mark Evans -- have given up their offices to customers while they work from home.

MDA announced last month that occupancy rates within its three business centres had reached 92 per cent. But demand has continued to grow and occupancy is now 100 per cent across all 23,000 square feet.

Mr Evans said: "I came back from my holidays to find that my own office had been cleared, redecorated and was housing new tenants.

"I am now working from home, or basically anywhere I can find enough space to put my laptop.

"Of course it's great news really because it means that the business is doing extremely well. Also, with broadband and mobile phones, I can work anywhere. But it would be nice to have somewhere to put a few photos of the family."

MDA also has offices in Manchester city centre and Stockport but it is in Bolton where there is most demand.

The firm recently announced a £4 million investment to increase its portfolio of office space and land for residential development.

The increased demand for office space in the town was demonstrated by a report in the Bolton Evening News last week, with the sale of two office blocks in Churchgate for £6.75 million.

And Bolton Council's business liaison and inward investment manager, Andy Ratcliffe, revealed that inquiries from firms wanting to move into the town have soared by 90 per cent, putting Bolton in a commercial property boom.
