IN response to the headlines of January 27, "Park rapist prison term is halved".

I feel that I must write to you to express my absolute disgust and disbelief in what has happened at the Court of Appeal in London. This person knew exactly what he was about to do that day, he went prepared with a Ghurka knife, raped the young girl twice and made threats to kill her.

I'm sure the people involved at the Court of Appeal are highly skilled, but, when it comes to common sense, it appears they haven't got an ounce of it. Do they honestly think reducing his sentence to seven years is appropriate to the horrific ordeal he put this girl through? She certainly won't forget the incident in seven years' time. Again, it seems as though British justice is aimed at helping the offender, and feeling sorry for the offender rather than the victim.
