A BABY has died at his Bolton home. His mother called an ambulance on Monday morning and the six-week-old boy was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital from the house in Cameron Street, Astley Bridge.
The baby had suffered a cardiac arrest and, despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
A post mortem examination was due to be carried out to find the exact cause of death, but it is not thought to be suspicious.
An ambulance spokesman said: "We were called to an address in Cameron Street and found a six week old baby boy in cardiac arrest. He was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital but sadly he died."
Police were notified about the infant's death at around 11am by a staff nurse at the Accident and Emergency department.
The baby is the second to die in a week.
