THE Bolton Sunday League kicked off their first cup competition of the season with Horwich Vic taking on Farnworth Whites in the Premier Division Cup.

In a closely fought preliminary round tie Vic earned a place in the first round by edging home 1-0 .

In the league, Prestolee quickly found the target when they went to Fern Street to take on Queens.

They fired in six of the best to leave Queens in a daze and although the home side also netted twice, Prestolee were never going to be denied their 6-2 win.

Tonge Moor Con Club's winning run continued as they defeated Greenwood 4-1 with goals from Bob Howarth and a brace from Craig Entwistle.

Meanwhile Jolly Waggoner held onto the Premier League top spot in style as they handed out an 8-0 defeat to luckless Hare and Hounds at Tonge Fold.

The top league game in Division One took place at Wharton Playing Fields, Little Hulton, where Ladybridge beat Pied Piper 7-1 with goals from Reynolds (4), Hinks (2) and Austin. This result took them back to the top of the table by a point from Britannia Farnworth, who have two games in hand.

In an eight goal thriller Fox and Stork beat Bottom Bull 5-3.

Bottomley began the goal rush with a twin strike for the winners, with Plano, Russell and Foster scoring one each.

In the Division One preliminary cup games, Beaumont beat Greenfield 5-2 with goals from Patton (2), Mulligan (2) and Leigh. Farmers Arms also progressed to the next round after beating Clifton Rangers 4-3 thanks to a double from Keeler and one goal each from Green and Smith.

Joining Farmers in the next round of the cup are Britannia Farnworth, who secured a 5-4 win thanks to four goals from Grayson and one from McAfee.
