A WOMAN who had been diagnosed with diabetes, died after collapsing at her home.

A Bolton inquest heard how Lorraine Price, aged 34, who was reclusive, may not have taken medication for her condition in the days before her death.

Mrs Price, of Wigan Road, Deane, had a history of learning difficulties and had also been diagnosed as having an underactive thyroid gland, for which she took medication.

Her father died from cancer several years ago, and the inquest was told that Mrs Price had never got over his death. In the weeks before her death, Mrs Price had stopped attending hospital appointments for her conditions.

Police officers were called to her home in December last year after a representative of the housing association which owned her flat, became worried that Mrs Price had not been seen for almost two weeks.

She was found dead on the floor of her living room. Pathologist Dr Stephen Wells said that Mrs Price may have been dead for a week before her body was discovered.

He said the cause of death was "unascertained," but there was a "strong possibility" that Mrs Price had died as a result of her diabetes.

Coroner Jennifer Leeming concluded that it was most likely that Mrs Price had died from "unascertained natural causes".
