AN undercover journalist who exposed racism within Greater Manchester Police will not be prosecuted, it has been announced.
The Crown Prosecution Service said it had advised GMP there was insufficient evidence to take the BBC's Mark Daly to court.
A senior officer said he had felt "physically sick" watching officers make racist comments in The Secret Policemen documentary, broadcast last month.
CPS spokesman Christopher Enzor said: "A file was sent to the CPS in August concerning Mr Daly who, as an undercover reporter for the BBC, spent nine months training and working as a police constable.
"The evidence in this case was reviewed according to the Code for Crown Prosecutors and it was decided there was insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction against Mr Daly for any offence."
A spokesman for GMP said: " We were shocked and saddened by what the documentary revealed and are determined to ensure that we take every opportunity to learn from the insight obtained.
"We currently has the highest ever intake of minority ethnic recruits and we hope to build on this number in the coming months."
