FIREFIGHTERS rescued a man from his smoke-filled flat in Breightmet last night after he fell asleep and left a grill pan unattended which caught fire.
The 47-year-old man had been drinking at his ground floor flat at the Hollins Sheltered Housing when he left a pan of food unattended and fell asleep on his settee.
Firefighters were called out at 10.10pm and had to break into his flat to rescue the man.
It took 15 minutes to bring the fire under control.
