SOME months ago there was a reference in a newsletter to Somerford Hall, Congleton, Cheshire.
This brought back fond memories for my husband and his friend, who used to visit the hall when it was used as a summer camp for children whose parents could not afford to take them on holiday.
They spent many happy holidays there 52 years ago, and the letter prompted them to revisit the hall on October 18. The place is intact, but in a poor state of repair. What a pity that it was not looked after, as many children could still benefit from the type of group holidays the local authority provided.
