A HUNT has been launched for a teenager with a distinctive birthmark who tried to rob a 61-year-old woman.
The victim was walking along fields off Presto Gardens, Deane, after visiting a local newsagents.
A youth, who had a birth mark the size of a two pence above his right eye brow, approached her from behind, grabbed her left wrist and forcefully turned her round to face him.
He threatened her and demanded money but ran off when the pensioner said she did not have any.
The woman, who suffers from brittle bones, was taken to hospital for an x-ray.
Det Chief Insp Dave Law from Bolton CID said: "We need to find this youth as soon as possible.
"It was very early in the morning when he attempted to rob an elderly woman.
"Fortunately she did not suffer any broken bones but she was left very shaken."
The pensioner gave police a very good description of the man. He was white, aged between 16 and 18, 5ft 2ins, of stocky build with black shoulder length hair and a slightly tanned face.
The teenager was wearing light blue jeans, grey jumper, black jacket and white trainers.
