FIREFIGHTERS have condemned youths who keep deliberately starting small fires in Farnworth.
A crew was called out to small blazes involving piles of rubbish three times in Westland Avenue on Saturday night. Last week they attended a number of similar incidents and believe the same youths, who subject them to verbal abuse, were responsible for all the fires.
Leading firefighter Kevin O'Conner said: "While we are attending one of these deliberate fires, we could be unavailable to attend a more serious blaze."
The police have been informed about the problem.
The firefighters are also subjected to verbal abuse when they are called out.
