RANGERS played well and would have won easily had they not given away away silly penalties.

Lee Beresford shot through for the opening try, which he also goaled. Soon, though, Langworthy levelled with a penalty and a converted try.

Rangers went back ahead when Stuart Walsh raced in for a try with Beresford adding the extras. After a cross-field move winger Rob Fitzpatrick raced over to score. Beresford again added the goal. Another penalty, a dropped ball and a mix up in defence let Langworthy in again leaving Rangers with just a 18-12 lead at half-time. In the second half Rangers dominated with forwards Barker, Whittle and Baxter all showing up well. Beresford joined in to score a try and he was there again to get his hat-trick. He converted one and Carl Parker the other. Beresford then became the provider when he put wingman Greg Whelan away to score. Stuart Walsh was man-of-the-match followed by Lee Beresford.

At the weekend Rangers are at home to Rylands (Warrington).
