WORKMEN have carried out a clean-up operation on Bolton Town Hall to get rid of the graffiti scrawled there by teenage girls.
As reported in Tuesday's Bolton Evening News, the young vandals wrote their names in thick black marker pen on the pillars and walls at the top of the historic building's steps last weekend.
They also caused outrage when they drew on the face and arms of a mentally handicapped young man they had "befriended".
Meanwhile, police inquiries are continuing in an effort to catch the culprits. Town centre manager Cathy Savage said: "Statements are being taken and I hope the end result will be prosecutions. We need to get the message across that this behaviour will not be tolerated."
