A VILLAGE Cricket Club was pleasantly surprised by the response to its annual fun day.
The event at the Chat Moss raised almost £2,000 for Glazebury CC and will go towards the cost of a new pavilion.
Highlight of the day was a Great Pooh Sticks Race on the River Glaze.
Club secretary Simon Green said: "In recent years we have spent quite a lot of money on the ground, providing an artificial turf net practice wicket and improved drainage.
"We face heavy expenditure in the near future, not least on the pavilion which is nearing the end of its useful life. We really appreciate the way local people supported the day."
