VALUABLE sculptures stolen five years ago from a Manchester art gallery have been found in Bolton. The haul was handed into Bolton Central Police Station by a man claiming to have found them in a bag under a viaduct off Union Road, Tonge Moor, yesterday afternoon.
Police said the paintings and other items were stolen from the private art showroom The Gallery, in Portland Street, in Manchester in 1998.
The bag contained three brass sculptures which police are yet to put a value to.
Detectives in Manchester who investigated the theft will ask the artist to identify his work later today.
