FIREFIGHTERS rescued a shop worker after she got her hand trapped in a cash box for more than an hour.
Sue Cheetham, aged 38, of Martin Grove, Kearsley, was cashing up at at B&M Retail in the Market Precinct in Farnworth when she realised the total was £10 short.
She saw a stray £10 note at the back of the cash box and reached in to get it. The spring from the box came back and trapped her right hand.
Staff tried to get her free, but eventually had to call firefighters.
Mrs Cheetham said: "It was very painful and extremely embarrassing. I had to run across the shop floor with the cash box stuck on my hand.
"Everyone at work found it hilarious -- especially as I am known for having an obsession with firemen."
Firefighters freed her hand using hydraulic cutters. Her hand was left numb, but otherwise uninjured.
