WHEN this 1933 picture was taken in Church Road, Bolton, near the junction of Harpers Lane, the bus was the first to run on the No. 1 route, Lower Pools to Lowther Street, Great Lever, replacing the old tramcar.
In 1933 the whole journey would cost you three old pence (equivalent to 1.25p these days).
