MEET Fiver the bunny, who is set to spearhead a campaign to get people in Bolton to eat more fruit and vegetables.

The bright pink rabbit will be spreading the healthy eating message around the town throughout August and September.

Fiver will be appearing at the Bolton Show and a Victorian Charity Street Market later this month, with fruit basket in hand, dishing out healthy snacks.

The rabbit has been named Fiver as a reminder of the five portions of fruit or vegetables health experts recommend we eat each day.

Bolton NHS Primary Care Trust is organising a series of events to encourage people to eat healthily, after it won a £150,000 grant from the National Lottery to promote healthier diets in deprived parts of Bolton.

The scheme will target Deane, Oldhams, New Lane, Tonge Moor, Great Lever and the Springfield Road area of Kearsley because evidence suggests that fruit and vegetable consumption is lower in these areas.

Fiver will be at the Bolton Show, in Leverhulme Park, on Saturday, August 16, and Sunday, August 17, between 11am and 5pm.

The bunny will then appear at the Bolton Victorian Charity Street Market, in Le Mans Crescent, on Bank Holiday Monday, August 25, between 11am and 5pm.
