ANDY Preece is concerned an easy pre-season campaign may leave his Bury players under prepared for the new season.

Shakers have breezed through their summer programme with a 100 per cent record after comfortable victories over Radcliffe Borough, Leigh RMI and under strength squads from Manchester City and Oldham Athletic.

"It's no fault of the teams we were playing against but they weren't the quality of opposition we were hoping for," said Preece.

"So we are a bit up in the air and we will only know at Swansea exactly how far we've come."

Preece has paid tribute to the attitude of his players during the off-season, particularly Matt Barrass and Gareth Seddon, who were given the harsh ultimatum to prove their fitness or face the axe at the end of last season.

"It's tough for players to be put under that pressure. They have been under more strain than any other player and have shown a fantastic attitude," he said.

"Chris Porter has been a massive plus for me. What we saw of him last year we were very excited about and wanted to see more of him. This summer he has come on again.

"I'm delighted with the way Lee Duxbury has fitted in and the attitude that Lee Unsworth and Colin Woodthorpe have shown after being asked to play at centre back. No-one has moaned and groaned and they've looked as fit and as strong as anyone.

"Glyn Garner has been in excellent form and a lot of our clean sheets are down to him. No-one has really disappointed me at all.
