FIREFIGHTERS rescued a dog yesterday afternoon after it fell between two high walls near the canal at Moses Gate Country Park, Farnworth.
The black mogrel, named Bilbo Baggins after the fictional Lord of the Rings character, jumped over the first wall as he played with his owner and his friends but got stuck between the two and could not scramble free. He injured his paw in the fall.
Fire crews winched him to safety and he was taken to a vets for a check-up.
