On Sunday, Chorley travelled to St Annes for the final game in the round robin League Cup. With neither team having any chance of progressing to the semi-finals a tedious afternoon was in prospect, but in the event this turned out to be an exciting match. Batting first Chorley slumped to 56/6 before Heaton and Greenwood compiled the only stand of any note adding 69 for the seventh wicket.
A total of 135 though looked well below what was required but soon St Annes found themselves in all sorts of strife. Billy Smith produced a dynamic opening spell of 4 for 5 in three overs and with John also picking up a couple of wickets, St Annes were reeling at 35/6.
As in the Chorley innings a rescue operation was mounted, on this occasion by Bradley and Bartholomew and they added 74 before John trapped Bartholomew LBW for 43. Smith returned to make it a five wicket haul getting rid of Banks but man of the match Bradley stayed calm and saw his side home with an unbeaten 43. For Chorley Smith bowled superbly to finish with 5/27, John collecting 3/25.
