CHORLEY Harriers had 20 runners the first of the popular Horwich 4 mile night series last week starting near Rivington Barn.

Gareth Booth, the club captain led from the front to be first Chorley Harrier home in 21 mins 24. He was chased all the way by new boy Dave Wall who finished in 22 mins 42. Recent recruit Jon Broome finished 58th in 23 mins 31 just ahead a junior coach Rick Bennett. Gwen Farnworth and Sarah Scarrott enjoyed a good race with Gwen just getting the better of Sarah to finish in 24 mins 39. Chorley Ladies secured third team prize with Claire Goulden completing the trio.

The club held its annual 10 mile road-race event at the weekend within Worden Park. With a record attendance several runners had to be turned away due to reaching the maximum number allowed.

The winner was Alan Bowness from Borders AC in a time of 52 mins 26. Neil Tattersall of Pendle was second with Paul Muller of Horwich RMI third in 53 mins 27.
