Wanderers will turn the clock back 30 years next season and switch to an all white home strip.

Wanderers are breaking with tradition by abandoning their navy blue shorts and the revolutionary new kit will also have hardly any blue and red trim on the shirt and socks.

It marks a huge change in club colours as Reebok chiefs look to develop a more modern image in line with their magnificent stadium, Premiership status and world class players.

Sam Allardyce had a big say in changing to all white, a kit he played in 32 years ago which he remembers as being a big hit with him and his team-mates.

Fan reaction to the change in tradition will be interesting but commercial director Gareth Moores is adamant it will be the club's most popular strip ever.

"It is a little bit of a change but sometimes change is a good thing," he said.

"It is a break from tradition but we have broken with tradition before such as when we moved to the Reebok Stadium.

"While we have a very rich tradition and heritage we are also a forward thinking club and this is another example of how we recognise the importance of trying to introduce change."

And he is confident the new look will be a big hit with the fans.

"It looks stunning and I am absolutely convinced the supporters will back it and that it will be the biggest selling strip in the club's history," he predicted.

The switch from navy and white to all white has been a long time in the planning.

The idea first emerged 18 months ago when the main players in the design process met to discuss the home strip for the next two seasons.

"Sam reminded us of the 1970/71 season when Wanderers played in all white," Mr Moores explained.

"He remembered the look of the team back then and that they looked great and everyone liked it.

"It was stunning then and will be again next season. It is important that the players feel comfortable in the strip and the feedback we have got so far has been very good.

"We also need a shirt with strong retail appeal and which is going to be in demand from our customers.

"We have had a panelled design for the last two years and it is good to change away from that.

"The new kit is a lightweight, technical fabric and a high performance garment."

The kit will be on sale shortly and in time for fans to wear at the last game of the season at home to Middlesbrough when the team will also wear it for the first time, depending on receiving FA approval.

The new away strip will be available from July when the current away strip will become the third kit.
