THE parents of a nine-year-old girl who has an undiagnosed mystery condition have organised a fund-raising music extravaganza to help her swim with dolphins.

Julie and Paul Carr are hoping a therapy trip to Florida will help the development of Laura, their "little princess", who has severe learning difficulties and can barely walk or talk.

Over the years they have organised events for Tanfield School, Hindley, which Laura attends, and Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

This time they hope to give Laura an educational trip to remember.

The 10-hour Leigh Round Table-backed concert at the Monaco, Hindley, on May 4 will bring together seven bands including Generation 3 -- the debut of three generations of Laura's family.

Her 16-year-old brother Rick is on lead guitar, dad Paul on rhythm guitar and veteran Beat Boy Ronnie Carr on bass.

Julie, of Wigan Road, Leigh, said: "We still don't know what's wrong with Laura. She's seen many specialists but her condition remains a puzzle. They can't put a name to it and it is so frustrating.

"At six months old she was diagnosed with a dislocated hip and from eight months old was in plaster for two years.

"During that time we noticed she was making progress. We've been to Alder Hey, Booth Hall, Pendlebury and St Mary's, Manchester, without results.

"Her hip is fine now, but it is the other problems we hope to work on. She's such a happy little girl. Everyone who sees her falls in love with her.

"We have been told that swimming with dolphins helps children like Laura and have decided to go down that route.

"We know it doesn't perform miracles and aren't expecting one but other families who have given their children the chance say it does make a difference.

"We can only give our daughter as much love, attention and encouragement as possible. The trip to Florida could be an important. We owe it to Laura to try it.
