NINE beaches on the North-west coast have won blue and yellow flag status for their clean sands and facilities.
Ainsdale beach joins Formby and Southport in Merseyside this year as it scoops an award from the Keep Britain Tidy Campaign. A record 332 beaches have won the award nationwide. It is hoped the awards will boost tourism in the region.
