I WOULD like to thank the Bolton Evening News for its generous coverage of the successful attempt by Cllr Howarth to deprive Bolton Stop the War Coalition of the use of a public facility collectively owned by the people of Bolton which exists for the benefit of ratepayers like ourselves.

Unlike Cllr Howarth (and Mr Molyneux), I am a Democrat, and if I was in Cllr Howarth's position I would not, under any circumstances, devise some shabby pretext to prevent a pro-war organisation using the public facilities to which they were entitled, just because I thought differently.

The meeting entitled "Iraq -- Liberation or Colonisation?" will now take place in the Friends' Meeting House at 7.30pm tomorrow. Among the speakers will be an international lawyer from the Birmingham firm of Public Interest Lawyers.
