BANK holidays. I would guess not many people know why they are called that.
Perhaps it is time to change the name to "family" holidays. Big business has, in my opinion, been taking too much out of society, and I feel it is time for big business to put something back. They have already stolen our Sundays, to make even more money. I would like all businesses to close on bank holidays, except essential services, so that families can be together. I believe the demise of family life is partly due to big business causing families to be apart.
There is a similar thing going on in Germany, where business shuts down for most of the weekend.
Not even HGVs are allowed to move, except for essential services.
It works very well in Germany, and families do get together, as I have witnessed. Over to you, Dr Iddon, MP
