THE case of a man who admitted making hoax 999 calls to the emergency services during a national fire strike was adjourned on Tuesday for further reports.

John Robert Byron, aged 19, of Lenham Gardens, Breightmet has also admitted animal cruelty.

He pleaded guilty to strangling his pet cat Tom last October at his former home in Garstang Avenue, Breightmet.

Byron has also admitted making calls to the fire service from a phone box in Breightmet last November.

Bolton Magistrates Court heard that he suffers from learning difficulties. The case was adjourned until Friday for the collection of further psychiatric reports.
