THE HALLIWELL Winter Rounders League completed its league fixtures in glorious sunshine on Sunday and will round off a successful season with the Russell Seddon tournament next Sunday.

Matches start at 11.30am and the 12 teams will be divided into three mini-leagues, the winners of which will contest the semi-finals along with the highest scoring runner-up.

Having already won the championship, Darcy beat HBOS by an innings on Sunday and Westhoughton and District claimed the runner-up spot by beating Bolton Lads and Girls Club by 51 runs.

This result meant Smithills could not overhaul them, making it unnecessary to play their outstanding game against the champions.

Lower Pools paid the penalty for turning out just seven players against Farmers XI and lost by 29 runs.

Cheetham Ladies, with eight players, lost by an identical margin to Pineapple XI. The victory meant that Pineapple swapped places with Cheetham in the final league table.

The match between the two Hulton Lane Ladies sides was an exciting affair played in a very competitive but friendly spirit.

With some very young and talented players on both sides, Hulton Lane Ladies could have a bright future.

Results: Hulton Lane Ladies 158 Hulton Lane B 118; Lower Pools 105 Farmers XI 134; HBOS 70 Darcy XI 78(I); Pineapple XI 136 Cheetham Ladies 107; Smithills Coaching House 159 Boundary Ladies 121; Westhoughton & District 179 Bolton Lads & Girls Club 128.
