THE English Touring Theatre Company presents a major new production of John Gabriel Borkman (1896), Henrik Ibsen's late masterpiece, at The Lowry from Tuesday to Saturday.

This is the company's second production in its 10th anniversary season and will be the fifth Ibsen play they will have undertaken following the award winning A Doll's House with Kelly Hunter, Hedda Gabler with Alexandra Gilbreath, The Master Builder with Timothy West and Emma Cunniffe, and last year's Ghosts, for which Diana Quick won a best actress award.

This latest production will have an all-star line up which will include Gillian Barge, who has been seen recently in the film Charlotte Gray with Cate Blanchett, and Linda Bassett whose films include Oscar and Lucinda with Ralph Fiennes and East Is East for which she received a BAFTA award nomination. She can be seen in the Golden Globe winning film, The Hours, which stars Nicole Kidman.

Celebrated stage actor Michael Pennington also stars. The cast also includes Mairad Carty, Barbara Kirby, James Loye, Fred Pearson and Jemma Powell.
