breaking boy's collar bone

A MAN has appeared in court accused of assault charges against a 14-year-old boy.

Richard Hall, aged 40, of Eskdale Avenue, Bolton, is accused of pushing the teenager into a brick wall, causing him to loose consciousness and break his collar bone.

Steve Sergeant, prosecuting, said the assault allegedly took place on February 4 after snowballs had been thrown at Hall's front door.

Hall pleaded not guilty at Bolton Magistrates Court yesterday to causing grievous bodily harm.

Magistrates said the case could only be heard at the Crown Court and it was adjourned for committal proceedings and a pre-trial review. Hall is due to reappear before the magistrates on May 19. He was released on conditional bail.

Hall worked as a special needs classroom assistant at Turton High School, Bromley Cross, at the time of the alleged offence.

Bolton Local Education Authority today confirmed that Hall is suspended from his position pending the outcome of the legal proceedings. The boy, who has special needs, cannot be identified for legal reasons.
