WORTHINGTON was top scorer in the old First Division during the 1978-79 season, but this televised effort was his best and was rightly voted Goal of the Season by ITV's 'On the ball'.
The forward received the ball with his back to goal and controlled it a couple of times before knocking it over his head with a third touch.
With the defenders caught ball-watching he turned and volleyed home from just outside the area. The ball only touched the ground once safely in the back of the net.
Ipswich striker Alan Brazil bagged a couple of belters that same day but claimed: "I scored two of the best goals of my career that day but no one remembers them because of Frank's."
