GUS the horse, set alight by an arsonist, remains in a steady condition.
Although he has coughed up some flesh, his eye is beginning to open further.
Owner Kath Harris, aged 45, of Cedar Avenue, Little Lever, said there were fears Gus may have nerve damage down one side of his face.
Gus was injured when the arsonist poured petrol over him and set it alight. Kath and her husband, Geoffrey McWilliams, aged 51, put out the fire using a hose pipe.
