READER Keith Turner has sent me these pictures. The top is of the Westhoughton North End team, the bottom of Horwich United.
They were taken in the middle 1950s at Grundy Hill, and the clubs were in the final of the Evans Cup.
Mr Turner says that second from right on the front row in the Westhoughton picture is Frank Wignall, who went on to play for Notts Forest and England.
Mr Turner knows all the players on the Horwich picture apart from a couple, and lists them as, back row, from left, L. Foy, B. Marsden, D. Collier, A. Farnworth, ?, K. Turner, M. Crabtree, L. Heath. Front row: H. Challiner, L. Bailey, D. Baxendale, ?, J. Crerar.
However, he would like to know more about the photographs, the names of the Westhoughton team and those missing from the Horwich team. He would also like a definite date, and any other information available.
