NORTH West Euro MP Gary Titley will be voting in favour of new EU laws this week to make car travel safer for children.

Under the new measures, children under three will be banned from travelling in cars without a baby or child seat, and older children will have to use child-sized seats or booster cushions. In Britain around 40 children under 12 are killed each year in car crashes, and a further 500 suffer serious injury.

Coach passengers will also be required to wear seat belts under the new laws.

"If only one child's life is saved that will make this legislation worthwhile," said Mr Titley.
