COMPETITION addict Veronica Jackson has won her best prize yet -- courtesy of the Bolton Evening News.

Mrs Jackson, aged 62, and her husband Boyd, aged 59, have the chance to live the life of luxury at Derwent Lodge in the Lake District for one week each year for the next 10 years.

The retired couple, of Fairfields, Egerton, are self-confessed contest addicts, entering every competition going since they married 33 years ago, and are no strangers to winning.

Mrs Jackson said: "We've had a bit of a drought recently, but in the past we've won a dishwasher, a cooker and a holiday to Monte Carlo.

"We always enter thinking we won't win, but that there's no harm trying. We just seem to be lucky.

"This is by far the best prize we have ever won and I think it will take quite a while to come back down to earth. We also won the Mr G's meal for two in the Bolton Evening News last week, and they say these things come in threes, so there could be one more to go!"

The prize in the Warburtons competition is a week's holiday for four people at the Derwent Lodge Luxury Hotel and Apartments every year for 10 years. Originally a 17th century Lakeland farm, the family-run hotel has a bar and restaurant and is situated by Bassenthwaite Lake, near Keswick -- the ideal location for exploring the fells, lakes and beauty of the Lake District. Mrs Jackson, who is a retired civil servant, and her husband, a retired postman, are now looking forward to visiting their luxury retreat.

"We love the Lakes and used to visit about six times a year, but haven't been able to have a holiday for over three years for various reasons, so we can't wait to get started."
