SATURDAY: YOURI Djorkaeff scores a spectacular equaliser to rescue a 1-1 draw for Wanderers at Charlton, cancelling out the Addicks' opener from Reebok old boy Mark Fish.

Gudni Bergsson urges Michael Ricketts to forget Spurs and concentrate on scoring goals for Wanderers.

MONDAY

RICKETTS confirms his desire to quit Wanderers by handing in a written transfer request which Sam Allardyce grants, expressing his disappointment with the striker. French trialists Pierre Yves Andre, the Nantes striker, and Lyon centre-back Florent Laville create good first impressions as Wanderers beat Bury 3-0 in a private friendly at the Reebok.

TUESDAY

ALLARDYCE says Ricketts' transfer request does not mean the end of the Reebok road for the wantaway striker. In a stark warning that Spurs will not get his man on the cheap, he insists: "Far too many man hours have been invested in Michael Ricketts for us to let him go for anything less than our valuation." Ricketts says: "I feel I need to give myself the best opportunity of returning to the international fold and seriously challenging for honours within the game." Djorkaeff says "Whether he goes or if he stays, it must be sorted out quickly for the good of the group."

WEDNESDAY

NEVER was the need for an in-form striker more apparent than at Newcastle where Wanderers play well but go down 1-0 to a Jermaine Jenus first half goal. Ricketts is jeered by Bolton fans when he goes on as a second half substitute.

THURSDAY

ALLARDYCE urges his bosses to gamble to keep Wanderers in the Premiership. He admits it is a risky business financially but asks chairman Phil Gartside to provide the funds for two new strikers, regardless of developments in the Ricketts affair. "It might hurt us financially but then, if Michael goes, we will be better off." Reports from Spain suggest that Wanderers are still interested in Valencia striker Salva Ballesta. Wanderers release young professionals Ciaran Ryan and Wayne Buchanan - U18s internationals with the Republic and Northern Ireland respectively.

FRIDAY

LEGENDARY strikers John McGinlay and Andy Walker take a swipe at Ricketts, saying the striker owes Wanderers a better attitude. Sam Allardyce admits he would like to take Derby County striker Malcolm Christie but does not have the money and he puts midfielders Gareth Farrelly and Stig Tofting up for sale.
