THE charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has linked up with recycling company Reclaim IT to help raise funds to train more dogs.
The specially trained animals can alert deaf people to everyday household sounds, such as the doorbell, telephone, alarm clock or smoke alarm.
The charity is now urging people to donate any old or unwanted mobile phones or any used laser or inkjet cartridges.
"As a charity that receives no government or lottery funding, schemes like this one really do help us train more rescue dogs that will eventually go on to change the lives of deaf people," said charity North West appeals organiser Nicky Litchfield.
If you can help please contact Reclaim IT on 01635 876900 who will collect free or Hearing Dogs on 01257 260888.
