RESIDENTS and the headteacher of a school are at odds over whether waiting restrictions should be introduced in a busy cul-de-sac.

Bolton Council plans to introduce waiting restrictions near St Matthew's Primary School, in Halliwell, from 8am-4.30pm.

The idea, to be discussed by the Bolton Council's planning committee on tomorrow, would involve waiting restrictions being introduced on part of Kentford Road and on both sides of Charnock Drive to stop parked cars blocking the entrance to the school and create more space for delivery vehicles.

However, some residents have objected to the plans and argue that the restrictions would stop them parking near their homes.

The headteacher of St Matthew's, Barbara Haworth, said: "It is quite dangerous and we have had to tell parents to park elsewhere and then walk to the school to collect their children."
